The Learning Centre provides a supportive environment for newcomers to develop essential skills through language classes and digital literacy training workshops. By offering accessible education and resources, we empower newcomers to gain the knowledge they need to succeed. All of our courses are free and open to all newcomers.

Our language courses began before 2023, at a time when francization programs were not yet available to refugee claimants. We continue to offer these courses to help newcomers navigate long wait times for official programs and to accelerate their settlement process.
In 2025, we launched our Digital Literacy program to respond to a growing need among newcomers navigating Canada’s complex systems. This program teaches beneficiaries how to navigate digital platforms and builds their digital skills.
We document challenges through applied research and program evaluation, turning field insights into informed advocacy.
All of our classes are free of charge. We only require a deposit which will be refunded as long as you do not miss more than two classes (without a valid reason). Registration will CLOSE AUTOMATICALLY when places allowed in the class fill up. After completing your classes, you will receive a certificate of proof. If you have any questions, send an email to info@therefugeecentre.org.
French is one of the most important skills that newcomers must learn when they arrive to Quebec and we offer
our French classes and conversation circles in order to help them do so.
