The Housing Department supports refugee claimants and accepted refugees in accessing safe, stable, and dignified housing in Montreal. Through a combination of housing search support, landlord mediation, housing rights education and a transitional housing program, the department supports our beneficiaries navigate the challenges of securing and maintaining housing while rebuilding their lives in Canada.

Launched in 2023 amid the housing crisis, our transitional housing program provides newcomers with safe, temporary housing and personalized support as they transition toward settlement and integration. During their stay, participants work with a caseworker to achieve key milestones related to employment, housing, and settlement.
Through housing search assistance, landlord mediation, and housing rights education, we provide the tools, information, and support needed to overcome barriers and build long-term housing stability.

Available in English, French, or Spanish, these 1-on-1 20-minute consultations give you a space to ask questions and receive tailored information about your housing situation. The goal is to equip you with the knowledge and resources you need to understand your options and take informed steps toward resolving your housing challenges independently.
