In late 2024, a petition titled “Accès aux services en francisation pour les nouveaux arrivants au Québec” gained strong public support, calling on the Quebec government to reverse funding cuts to francisation services. While this petition has since closed earlier than expected, the fight for equitable access to French language learning is not over.

Francisation is not just about language—it is about belonging. When newcomers are empowered to learn French, they are better able to participate in Quebec’s economy, society, and culture. This campaign urges supporters to continue pressing decision-makers by emailing Guillaume Cliche-Rivard and Minister François Legault to reinstate and expand funding for francisation programs.

The petition called for concrete measures: increased funding through school service centres, restoration of adult education classes, simplified enrollment, and stronger support for specialized French teachers. These are not just administrative tweaks—they are essential steps toward a more inclusive and linguistically vibrant Quebec.

If Quebec is serious about protecting the French language, then francisation must be accessible, well-funded, and widespread. Cutting services while demanding linguistic assimilation undermines both integration and linguistic preservation. Join the call: language learning should be supported, not sabotaged.
