Swish mtl

Swish Mtl is the Refugee Centre’s annual fundraiser. It is a 3-on-3 basketball tournament and BBQ with activities that everyone can enjoy. You can register, alone or with a team of 3-4 friends, to play in the tournaments. There is also a barbecue during lunchtime where you can eat under the sun and enjoy activities like volleyball and badminton. Proceeds from the fundraiser go towards the expansion of the Refugee Centre’s services (e.g. offer more French and English classes) and provide it with the means it needs to continue to aid the refugee and immigrant population in Montreal. The fundraiser usually takes place in August or July, in one of Montreal’s beloved public parks, Oscar Peterson Park.

Blochacks hackathon

BLOCHACKS is an annual hackathon in the city of Montreal that is focused on hacking social causes. We are strong believers that technology can help fix and improve the majority of disasters and social problems the world is currently facing today. We see an ever increasing gap between the non Profit (as well as non-governmental) world and emerging technology. Supported by the social innovation catalyst known as DevBloc we believe we can help motivate and inspire the Montreal community to build, create, structure, design, and innovate solutions to global issues.
